Nocturnal Wildlife Prowl with Ian Moodie

  • Yarran Dheran Nature Reserve 1A Ashburton Drive Mitcham, VIC, 3132 Australia (map)

In association with the Birrarung Riverfest 2026, experience the Mullum Mullum Valley after dark on a guided nocturnal wildlife walk through Yarran Dheran with respected local environmentalist Ian Moodie.

Using red-light torches to minimise disturbance to wildlife, you'll explore the reserve in search of the diverse animals that emerge after sunset. Along the way, Ian will share his knowledge of the local environment and introduce you to the fascinating nocturnal species that call this special place home.

This is a wonderful opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of the bush at night, learn about local wildlife and discover a different side of the Birrarung catchment.

Children are welcome but must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Please note this event is not suitable for very young children or prams.

Please wear suitable clothing, enclosed walking shoes and dress for the weather.
