🐸 Quarterly Frog Survey with Frank Gallagher

Yarran Dheran Frog Survey

Habitat around the ephemeral wetlands of Yarran Dheran supports seven frog species. Frogs are most reliably identified by their calls, although only males call regularly, usually in the evening and during a defined breeding season.

The Yarran Dheran Frog Survey is a citizen science initiative contributing recordings to Melbourne Water’s Frog Census. Join us to learn how to collect and submit valuable frog call data from your own local area.

The session includes a brief presentation and guidance on using frog identification apps, followed by a guided walk to the Yarran Dheran ponds to record and submit frog calls and, hopefully, spot a few frogs as well.

Please wear suitable clothing and enclosed shoes. Not suitable for very young children or prams. No dogs please.

📍 Where: Meet at the Yarran Dheran Visitor Centre, 1A Ashburton Drive, Mitcham VIC
